Fly, See and Adapt Like an Eagle
How do you Fly as a Freelancer?
While navigating the dynamic landscape of flexible work for the past 15 years, I’ve gained valuable insights that I hope will help you thrive in this dynamic environment.
Here, I want to share with you the 5 key lessons I’ve learned along the way—lessons that focus on defining success and embracing the opportunities that come with learning from failure.
1. Leverage Expertise and Ensure Market Demand
While passion is vital, it's equally important that your expertise is recognized and in demand. In my case, CRM has been a constant theme throughout my business life. It's a space I've thrived in, working with clients across the countries Netherlands, UK, Denmark, Sweden, Belgium, Italy and even the United States. While CRM solutions can accelerate business growth, they can also be complex and overwhelming—creating demand for external experts to mitigate risks.
2. Partner with Emerging Technologies
In my journey with Salesforce, I’ve been continually amazed by the pace of innovation. Beyond the technology itself, Salesforce has built a thriving ecosystem of customers, partners, and community members. Staying aligned with evolving technologies can open doors to new opportunities and long-term success. I've had the privilege to work for incredible companies like Accenture, Converse, Danfoss, Infosys, Nasdaq, Nike and Volvo and many others.
3. Focus on What Matters Most
Time is your most precious asset, so it's crucial to focus on activities that drive success. Begin by identifying the key actions that yield the best results. Equally important, learn to delegate tasks that don't align with your core strengths—someone else may be better equipped to handle them, freeing up your time for what truly matters.
4. Navigating Your Journey: Let Values be Your Compass.
Defining clear business values is a thoughtful journey that should not be underestimated. Through my experiences, I've witnessed how aligning with individuals and organizations that share values fosters optimal collaboration and a state of flow. When everyone is aligned, exceptional results naturally follow. However, conflicting values can lead to discomfort and uninspired outcomes, creating unexpected roadblocks that are often challenging to navigate.
5. Build and Nurture Your Network
Your network is a powerful resource. Share your challenges openly and tap into the collective wisdom of your community. The feedback you receive may surprise you, leading to new insights or opportunities. Learn quickly, act on the advice, and you’ll uncover hidden opportunities that can propel your business forward.
